É um filme no mínimo perturbador mas perdeu um pouco do seu impacto com o tempo, mesmo sendo um verdadeiro marco na literatura mundial.
O filme trata de um país fictício chamado Oceania que está em constante guerra e para manter a máquina de guerra funcionando, o povo é oprimido e controlado de forma absoluta. Com televisores em todos os lugares (inclusive nos quartos dos cidadãos) para controlar cada passo, evitando assim que uma revolta ecloda, ao mesmo tempo que permite o controle absoluto através do Big Brother, um ser “superior” que cada cidadão de Oceania dedica sua vida.
Escrito em 1948, ver o filme hoje em 2004 acaba sendo meio injusto com ele pois de lá para cá milhares de filmes sobre um futuro onde a sociedade é oprimida e privada de emoção e que vive sob um regime autoritário e alienista já está mais que batida. Pelo trailer do filme o grande ponto é ter sido filmado em abril de 1984 o que hoje em dia é totalmente insignificante. Outro fator interessante é a concepção de Big Brother que no filme é algo temerário, hoje em dia é um programa de TV onde as pessoas se divertem assistindo aos outros, nada de chocante. Em termos reais, muitas cidades do mundo estão repletas de câmeras com o intuito de segurança. Será que estamos entrando no esquema que o filme tanto nos assusta e intimida.
De qualquer forma, só por estar batido mas não significa que o filme é desatualizado. O conceito de estar sempre em guerra para com isso justificar as constantes necessidades que a população sofre, sem contar o controle através da raiva comum e do medo constante de ser dedurado por algum vizinho ou colega de trabalho.
As atuações são boas com destaque para a atuação de Richard Burton em seu último filme. John Hurt também está bem como o amargurado e o questionador Wiston. O interessante é o que o filme, acima de tudo, é realista no que diz respeito ao ser humano. Não há aqueles heróis imbatíveis, pelo contrário. Wiston questiona o sistema mas tem medo de ser descoberto e torturado por suas “idéias revolucionárias”.

O Nero Digital é um formato que esta se popularizando cada vez mais. O arquivo é salvo como .MP4
Mp4 refere-se especificamente a MPEG-4 Part 14. Um padrão de container de áudio e vídeo que é parte da especificação MPEG-4. A extensão oficial do nome do arquivo é .mp4, por isso é comum vermos o formato ser chamado assim.[1]
É similar ao popular AVI, mas traz algumas vantagens:
Suporte nativo a legendas embutidas (AVI também pode ter, mas só através de hacks como o usado no DivX6); Melhor suporte ao padrão de codificação de vídeo H.264, também conhecido como MPEG4 AVC. Estando codificado, um arquivo MP4 pode ter sido criado com diversos tipos de codec diferentes, incluindo DivX e XviD. Porém como DivX e XviD são relativamente bem atendidos pelo arquivo codificado AVI (que é muito mais popular), é mais comum você encontrar um MP4 que seja constituído por streams criados por codecs incomuns.
MP4 é o codec escolhido pelo popular programa Nero Recode. Todo arquivo criado pelo Recode é um MP4.
