"Alguns podem achar exagero, outros sabem muito bem do que falo, porque também o fazem. E eu digo para vocês: se você não entrar na história, não se envolver, o álbum THE WALL será sempre um simples CD (ou vinil) duplo da capa branca, com "azulejos" e monstrinhos desenhados e que tem aquela música do "Hey teacher!". Porém, se você assistir o filme, deixar as músicas entrarem em seu coração, e passar a enxergar o muro que envolve a cada um de nós, verá que THE WALL retrata as nossas próprias vidas, nosso sofrimento de pessoas inteligentes que se importam e sofrem com o mundo que está aí.

Afinal de contas, aquele filme não é simplesmente uma história baseada na vida de Roger Waters, pois, se você prestar bastante atenção, descobrirá que essa "autobiografia incrementada" é apenas um pretexto para Waters e, por que não, Gilmour e Ezrin, apontarem tudo o que há de absurdo neste mundo louco em que vivemos."

É um filme no mínimo perturbador mas perdeu um pouco do seu impacto com o tempo, mesmo sendo um verdadeiro marco na literatura mundial.

O filme trata de um país fictício chamado Oceania que está em constante guerra e para manter a máquina de guerra funcionando, o povo é oprimido e controlado de forma absoluta. Com televisores em todos os lugares (inclusive nos quartos dos cidadãos) para controlar cada passo, evitando assim que uma revolta ecloda, ao mesmo tempo que permite o controle absoluto através do Big Brother, um ser “superior” que cada cidadão de Oceania dedica sua vida.

Escrito em 1948, ver o filme hoje em 2004 acaba sendo meio injusto com ele pois de lá para cá milhares de filmes sobre um futuro onde a sociedade é oprimida e privada de emoção e que vive sob um regime autoritário e alienista já está mais que batida. Pelo trailer do filme o grande ponto é ter sido filmado em abril de 1984 o que hoje em dia é totalmente insignificante. Outro fator interessante é a concepção de Big Brother que no filme é algo temerário, hoje em dia é um programa de TV onde as pessoas se divertem assistindo aos outros, nada de chocante. Em termos reais, muitas cidades do mundo estão repletas de câmeras com o intuito de segurança. Será que estamos entrando no esquema que o filme tanto nos assusta e intimida.

De qualquer forma, só por estar batido mas não significa que o filme é desatualizado. O conceito de estar sempre em guerra para com isso justificar as constantes necessidades que a população sofre, sem contar o controle através da raiva comum e do medo constante de ser dedurado por algum vizinho ou colega de trabalho.

As atuações são boas com destaque para a atuação de Richard Burton em seu último filme. John Hurt também está bem como o amargurado e o questionador Wiston. O interessante é o que o filme, acima de tudo, é realista no que diz respeito ao ser humano. Não há aqueles heróis imbatíveis, pelo contrário. Wiston questiona o sistema mas tem medo de ser descoberto e torturado por suas “idéias revolucionárias”.

Now Diggs must make it to Mexico without food or water, and with a rather large man attached to him. And during this whole adventure, a vulture is constantly stalking Diggs...

He puts the poison in a one of her drinks but he drinks the wrong one and he dies. Well at least she's still back on earth ... or so he thinks.
